Ok. I hear alot of differences on the subject of riding only in low range versus high range while trail riding. What is recommended. Also I am wondering if I should change my primary and secondary clutch springs. I hear about the pink spring on the primary and black on the secondary. It is suppose to increase belt life and increase low end speed?

Any one with experience or advice on these areas would be appreciated.

Well i know i have an AC 500 auto, and 90% of the time i'm in hi. only down REALY nasty rocky hills and or up realy nast stuff do i use low. or when i'm plowing snow. anyhow alot of people think you need to be in low for anything under 30 mph, i don't think so.
if you can cruze at say 10-15mph in hi then you should be ok. unless you have a heavy load. then use low. read the owners manual. it tell you how to tell if you need low..
my thoughts.

HR.

Yeah. I guess that would help. 05 650 v2. I am just worried about burning up belts and whatever else. We average about 15 to 20 mph trailing riding.

if you average 15-20 mph on the trails run it in low. you should be able to run it up to 48 mph in low range so unless you are gonna run it wide open down the rode run it in low. oh and it wont' hurt it to run it in high range on flat smooth trails doing 15-20 mph either but when you start getting a lil rougher or tall grass or something to work the belt then you have to worry.

I run mine on high all the time .The only time I put it in low is when the machine can not handle what I want to do.

And you will fry your belt and then blame the machine. Arctic Cat put out a change to the owners manual that said low range unless you are crusin' down a road at higher speeds. Trail use requires low range.
