arctic cat pulling contest

Pulling on anything other than a tar road is a waste of time. You both will just dig holes and not go anywhere. Having said that, pulling on tar is asking for trouble. The amount of stress that is put on the axles and axles shafts is unreal. Not to mention there is always a good chance that one of you will flip over backwards.
If you do decide to do it on tar, I would be very very surprised if you lose.

One last thought. Hook up as high as you can on your machine and as low as you can on his. This way the stress weight from the pull will force your machine to squat, making it heavier on the rear wheels and lifting his rear up and making it lighter.
Try not to break traction with yours if you can, even if it means applying light braking and when you notice he has broken traction then nail it. You will just drive off with him spinning his wheels - lol....

Hooking high allow your front wheels to be pulled off the ground easier. You never see tractor pullers hook high, alway low. Below axle height if possible, then the pull of the chain plans you front tires.

With that in mind maybe a plan on how not to break traction first may get you a win. Here is a though for you. Not sure if it is good or bad as I have never done this but at least it is some type of strategy. May or may not work but if it were me I think I would not give it full gas at start but only enough to put some stress on my driveline and I would apply some light breaking and even if I gave up 6" or a foot at the start, I would wait unitil he breaks traction and then give my machine the full pull. Something to consider... Ask SHOTGUN what he would do on start, he probably could advise you with a good plan.

Well it looks like you like to pic on Bear. i wonder why that is? are you the typical smartalic type? just can't leave well enough alone? if you actualy read what Bear stated then used some brain power and watched a tracter pull you'll see that he is correct.
now the reason you don't want to hook High is it will pull the front off the ground thus doing you no good. i under stand the thought about pulling your rear axle down and his up. but it won't help in this.. only get some one hurt.
as for you buckaroo50, you tell Bear to just drop it and leave it alone but here is PROOF that you can't take your own advise? and at that you have to be an a$$ about it... Jim that is a cute little white house you live in on the corner. you might want to be more careful how much you offend people.
i could care less if you take offence to me, just maybe prectice what you preach. if you can't leave it alone the please leave.

Well, I'm not bashing anyone's opinion, just giving my own, which comes form years of pulling and holding pulls, here in the northeast.
The hole concept of pulling is lifting up on what your pulling and putting all the down pressure you can on your rear wheels, which do most of the work. If you can take the weight off his rear wheels and put it on yours, you'll win. If you can accomplish that by hooking low, have at it.
buckaroo50, I'm serious, let me know if any pulls down you way....
BTW, those pics in my profile are really old, need to update.
