Much above idle and it stalls...Help!!!

If I turn the headlights on, I can give it throttle. This leads me to believe, this is a voltage problem (too high). Anyone else ever encountered this problem? What part and where is it? Thanks in advance, Rob

sound like the voltage regulator is out. if there is one on a quad.
