Hey guys, i have a 2003 300 4x4. Im thinking bout getting some itp mudlites and a lift kit. i ride SOME asphault to get to trails ( i know, i know) hard packed and mud. are those tires good? and whats a good lift kit?
i only have like 2 pics of my quad, but some more of my buddy and his 360 praire.
me and my buddy went behind my house today. you cant even walk out to where we went. its all mud and bolders type rocks. most of the pics are of my friend, cuz i didnt wanna get off (mud too deep) we found a secret mud pit. its about 50 feet long and 20 feet wide. some spots up to our seats. i have only pics of the ride there, all down a stream and through some rocky sections. next time i got out i will get better pics, these were from my phone.
we got stuck like a million times. I now officially <3 my winch.

If you have a little more money and don't mind a bumpy ride from about 0-8mph then I would go with something a little more aggressive than a mudlite. As for a lift kit....2" lifts put a hard angle on the CVs for stock axles especially on the AC's. So there is a good chance you can break more axles. But that is for the newer ACs I'm not sure on yours though but probably the same. But I would go with a 26" tire or 27" at the max but the 27 will require a clutch kit. Snorkel it and re-jet it and it will also add a little more power to move the tires better.

I agree with Kawa3 about the lift kit - hard on the CV joints. As he said your best bet is with tires. Just be careful not to go too big because if you can't turn them you will be sadly disappointed and out some money. HighLifter makes some after-market springs and they claim 1" or so. That may not be too bad on the CV angle. I have a set on the rear - I don't think I got any lift - If I did it was very little. But then again I have them only on the back and I run low preloads on them. If I cranked them up I possibly would see some lift. But my machine sits high enough for me with 13+ using 25" tires.

I have to laugh when you said you got stuck about a million times - probably no matter what you do to your machine you will still get stuck about a million times - simply because you will keep trying bigger mud holes... lol get used to it - it is half the fun anyway.

o yeah, i didnt mean it in a bad way at all. thats the most fun.
and i looked into it, im prolly going to get 26 in rear and 25 up front, is that ok? 1 inch bigger then stock on both. can i go 27 with only a 300?
and also, im going to put some screen over my airbox and remove the lid. im also getting a kn filter, prefilter and a dynojet jet kit.

A friend used to have an 05 300 I think( I know it was a 300 just not the year) and he had 27" 589s all they way around. It turned them good, just had to use super low. It also had like an 8yr old kid on it instead of a 140+lb person on it. Also removing the lid and and mudding will not be good.
I suggust snorkeling it(very easy on a 300 takes at the most 1 hour[took me about 15mins as I have snorkeled a lot of bikes]) here is a link to a page that i did a little write up on how to snorkel it. http://www.floridaatv.com/smf/index.php?topic=2121.0 But I would just keep it with a 25" in the front and 26" in the rear and get like outlaw MSTs or gators/mudbugs
Also somehow I got yours confused with a 400 auto in the first post I posted. You might be able to lock the front diff on that one also but not for sure.

The tires should be fine. Be careful about rejetting, Simply putting in a bigger jet is not necessarily going to work well. Your engine determines the size of the jet. It too big then it will be like driving around with the choke on. K&N is fine but they don't really do to much for volume they do most with rate of flow. Being at full rate will not increase volume if the air can't get there. You would also have to increase the volume available to the engine. It takes a long time to pore a gallon of water through a straw, but only a few seconds to dump a bucket with no restrictions. I did a post on air-jetting that may be interesting for you. It is cheap also. If you remove the lid and put a screen, how will you prevent water from getting into your air box.

k this is a little off topic but w.e. i love AC i grew up on one and <3 everything they re makin now. but really those things are the heaviest machines eveR! and wtf is with the site and brochures that say evey quad execpt the dvx, 250, and kid ones are rated to pull 1050??? for a 400 thats good. for a 500 good. a 650?? should be more. and i dont see how they can say that the 700 EFI cant pull more then the 400. oh ya and the thundercat is rated for that too. i think they just like forgot to test it and guessed or something. my neighbour just bought his kid a kodaik 450 and it pulls 1107 lbs. no way that outpulls a thundercat. lmao i love AC but im only 15 dont make alot of money so the only quad i could afford is my 02 trx500fa. im gettin a AC next year tho im savin. i even put my own homemade snorkel on the other day outta pvc pipe. lol it works good. if you know my the ratings are like that maybe its their weight but just answer please they are confusing me

oh ya the quad i grew up on (and still have, somehow it runs) is a 07 300 4x4. that thing is a beast wow. its been underwater for a while and thru so much mud you wouldnt believe it. thats not HORRIBLE the reason i said it somehow runs is because my little brother couldnt read the sightglass and kept putting oil in like every 20 kms cuz he thot it burned it to fast! he did this for months without tellin no one then when it stopped even running i took it to my uncle whos a machinic and there was more then twice as much oil as there should have been.! it was splashing and ligthing inside the cylinder!! it still runs i cannot believe it. it has mudlites and my bro drives it on pavement and jumps it alot and all thats wrong is it only goes 57 km. haha i love that quad
