k this is a little off topic but w.e. i love AC i grew up on one and &lt;3 everything they re makin now. but really those things are the heaviest machines eveR! and wtf is with the site and brochures that say evey quad execpt the dvx, 250, and kid ones are rated to pull 1050??? for a 400 thats good. for a 500 good. a 650?? should be more. and i dont see how they can say that the 700 EFI cant pull more then the 400. oh ya and the thundercat is rated for that too. i think they just like forgot to test it and guessed or something. my neighbour just bought his kid a kodaik 450 and it pulls 1107 lbs. no way that outpulls a thundercat. lmao i love AC but im only 15 dont make alot of money so the only quad i could afford is my 02 trx500fa. im gettin a AC next year tho im savin. i even put my own homemade snorkel on the other day outta pvc pipe. lol it works good. if you know my the ratings are like that maybe its their weight but just answer please they are confusing me</end quote></div>

I believe the towing is not based on the total weight that it can tow or pull, but is based on the weight that it can SAFELY tow or pull.

Although off topic, could it also be that the towing capacity is rated by the hitch and its attachments? Be like a Turbo Cummins diesel with a tow hitch rated for 5000lbs. Guaranteed it can pull more than that but, as Buckaroo said, 5000lbs would be the most it could safely do.

agreed. i pulled some sort of heavy a$$ piece of farm equipment with my 300 and it quite easily in super low...but bent the frame, and found out later from the farmer it weight about 2 ton. the bikes will will do more than they say,but the manufacturer is gonna rate the bike to pull a certain weight safely. if they said it can pull 4,000 pounds then you go and try it and it gets away from you and kills you some how, then they will have a law suit.

Towing capacity is determind by brake systems. Also polaris are heavier than all others

Rated towing is limited by horsepower, its rated by stress on the frame, hitch, safety, etc. The 400, 500, 650, and 700 all use the same frame, therefore the same tow rating.

Edit* Yeh, brakes too

heavier machines= better towing ability

so which one do you want?
also equals more traction.
just for note, ive pulled more than the rated limit, thats there for liability reasons, if u pull 2 tons, break your frame, no suing arctic cat for not covering it in the warranty.
