New 07 650 H1
#1
After looking at the yam, polaris, and AC, the only dealers in my area, I chose the AC 650 H1. Drove a 400 manual and was not impressed but it is alot bigger than the other 400's. I was liking the yamaha 400 BB with IRS, but looking at the frame after the AC it looked like a toothpick. Then I drove the 650 H1, and didn't want anything less. I whined till I got it for the same price as the 400 manual, so I couldn't pass it up. The questions I have, is what is the best battery because I am not so keen on the no backup rope start, and there is lots of room in the battery box for a larger/better one. Buckaroo seems like alot of help, but he didn't like rockymountain for parts, I love them, and I checked and their battery was only $26 same as walmart.
I couldn't pass up an atv that is all american made. Any thing needed except possable wheel spacers for my 07 to be perfect?? My local guys are smart and it is jetted correctly for my altitude. Rechecked all fluids and they are fine. Going to break it in the next couple days and I'll keep posted on how it goes.

Same machine I own.... You will love it.
The best battery is the Odessy PC860. A bit pricey ($100) but well worth it. You can also get a rope start from AC for it. I read something on Arcticchat.com about the rope start but old age has set in and I can't remember it. My next purchase will be a new set of tires. The stock ones are OK but definately not the best.

Damn dyslexia.....or old age ....
Yes it is the PC680. I have not bought mine yet but I just checked EBay and there is one for $93 and free shipping. I will do a Google search and see what comes up to find the best price.
Good luck

For what it's worth - the stock battery in my 500i lasted over three years.
If you're going to spend money, look at better tires. Then price up a weekend at a a good ATV park.

I'm with JohnO, check the tires and spend the money on a trip. =D
Last year my buddy spent 5 days in Arkansas, a slew of guys went and it ended up only costing $250 for travel and lodging. If there's a spot open next year I'm in like flynn.

wildwyowest, I have 4 AC wheel spacers 1" thick that I would sell for much less than they cost new. They are the highlifter brand. I might have put 5 to 10 miles on them. They cost me $169. I would sell them for $100. They make the AC really stable on side hills. I just put new tires on my AC 400, wow what a differance. It turns and handles much better, like riding a differant machine. I didn't realize how bad the stock tires were. I put on the maxxis bighorn tires ($370 for set of 4 delivered to my door).

I've seen those bighorn tires and they look nice. I probably won't really change anything, I was just concerned about the many people that had problems with the battery and no backup pull start. I'll probably just spend the money to get the pull start, then just replace things like battery and tires as they are needed. Wheel spacers seem good though. Most riding here is old two track roads, which would be nice if I were wider I could straddle the center and almost fit in the two tracks instead of being in an akward position. Sometimes the two track has ruts and then one side is in the deep ruts while the other side is on top of the high center part and I'm sitting sideways. Anyone else have this problem? I'm more of a dirt bike rider and didn't have these problems, but I can't haul stuff on a dirt bike, so I'm just really starting to ride 4 wheelers more, I had them on the farm but a flat gravel road doesn't have problems like a beat up 2 track. I just might be interested in those spacers, especially if I can ride the two tracks better, what do you think buckaroo?
