yes a big bore kit is possible. but.....seriously? lol</end quote></div>
"Too much horsepower is almost enough"
I dont remember whose signature that was- but it sure applies to mudders and duners. Just Imagine how MASSIVE tires you can get a big bore stroker thundercat, with a 10mil stroker and 5mm BB. I think that gets you 1205cc. I think if you got a cam, dual exhaust, massive radiator, and 13.5:1 pistons- then you would be able to turn almost 5feet tires? 60" thats big, but it MIGHT be possible. Just imagine in how deep of mud you could go.
I hope can-am also gets hemi engines for their line-up as well. In my opinion they just make better machines than arctic cat. The only reason that arctic cats sell so well is because of their clearance. But i say it just shows you have more skill than an AC rider if you can keep up with an arctic cat in deep rutted trails on a canam with only 9 inches clearance (canam claims 12 doesnt it, but the shocks sag)
How come the 450s haven't done this yet? they are the ones who desperately search for all the power they can get. If manufacturers got the hemispheric head for the 450s, then they could get extremely quiet exhausts while keeping about mid 40s hp. Im sure that farmers and city folk would be very happy if we all got under-85db quads. If that happened all of a sudden we would be allowed to drive almost wherever we want.

I'm glad AC did this. Its going to make the other guys step up to the plate. Is there a end in sight? Its going to be the shats havein'g a bunch of utilities quads out there out dragging the sport quads.</end quote></div>
I think the 800 Outlander already out runs most sport ATVs.

Part of the success of Arctic Cat (like BRP) has to do wtih the success of their snowmobiles too. WHen the people who ride Cat sleds need an ATV, of course they are going to stick with the brand. Living in Minnesota, there is a lot of "hometown" buyers who like to support the local economy. IMO I think Arctic Cat makes the best ATV - for what I would use it for. I plan to get one in a year or two. Now the hard part, saving up money

"The heart of the beast is a 90-degree twin cylinder, hemispherical combustion chamber, single overhead cam, four valves per cylinder EFI brute. Displacing 950 cc, it is the current King of the Big Bores. Operating two valves per cam lobe with forked rocker arms, the designers developed it for maximum torque, and claim 188 ft. lb. at the crankshaft. When questioned about the huge torque figure (more in fact, than a 4 cylinder, 2.7 Liter DOHC truck engine), company representatives assured us of the accuracy of the figure."
This piece in an article says that it DOES have a hemiscpherical combustion chamber- therefore it has a hemispheric piston and cylinder too.... How the @#$% is a person supposed to bore that out?
BTW: does anyone here actually believe it pumps out 188ft-lbs of torque at the crankshaft? if it does, then my ds250 must do at least 25ftlbs and i know it doesnt do that.
And seriously, 188ft-lbs of torque at 6000rpm translates to over 200hp. If that was possible without telling half truths-(like: "Uhhhhmm, actually, i think you heard me wrong, what i really said was 88ftlbs) It must have a TON of drag in the transmission to make the engine even slightly reasonable for trailriding. ATV rider said that it pulled hard all the way till 75mph when the needle stopped moving. Well up to what speed does a renegade 800 pull really hard? 55mph or something like that and it has 60-65hp? How much power would it take to pull hard till 75.... 100hp should be enough right? if the 188 was a typo (thats how rumours are spread you know- typos which are claimed are fact) and it was really 88ft-lbs- at about 6000 rpm thats a little more than 1000hp, which seems believable because 1000 sportbikes make between 140-160 hp or something around there- and the dodge ram with hemi's also have a few hundred hp (dont they also have about 80-120hp per 1000cc displacement?)

We will all know soon im sure. But i doubt i will ever get one. I would have preferred a Arctic Cat 800V2. But at any rate, AC is the best built ATV for what i want, and that will not change if they keep doing what they are now.

umm ya. if the clyinder was rounded (hemispherical) how the ***** would the piston work? it wouldnt, its the end of the cylinder were the valves are that is rounded, as well as the head. you. are. on. drugs. alrite. and ya, it wont have that much torque at the wheels, dur. its just propaganda that is technically true, b/c its at the crank, which is directly out of the engine. besides, torque doesnt neccesarily translate to horsepower, its just a good model most of the time. . and spell check there you said 1000hp is beleivable. but ya im not saying i know everything, but i know that you are just uniformed
