Default Need help and info on a 2004 650V2 LE

Hi I'm new to the site and I have a couple questions on a machine I'm looking to buy. Its a 2004 650 V2 (Kawasaki) 4X4 LE with 900 miles on it. How are these machines? Any problems with them? Anything I should know? Its in really nice shape and was well teken care of. It's $3800 is that a good price?

my buddy has one and the problems he had with his is oil getting in the air filter box and exhaust. it also had a problem with the engine brake sticking and a clanking noise in his drivetrain. his has only 500 miles on it and paid 5800 for it brand new. i have an 07 rubicon with 700 miles no problems yet.

WOW, I have never heard of any of these problems with the V2.

They are very good ATV's, only thing is to make sure you ride in LOW unless you top speeds of 45, as that will help the belt life.

I also have a 2004 650V2. I had the oil in the air box happen to me. But I was hauling *** back to camp after getting about 6 miles away and forgetting my elk license on my cot in the tent. There is a drain hole in the bottom of the box and mine was actually spitting oil out of this drain, onto the engine and my right pant leg. I was sure I blew something up. So when I got back home from the trip, I took it to the dealer.

The oil in the air filter box occurs when ridden very hard or extended high speed, according to my dealer. The drain hole was there for that purpose. He said it was normal under those conditions and not to worry about it. So I didn't and it hasn't ever happened again. But I haven't ridden it as hard as I did that time either.

I have trashed one belt but that was my fault. I was trying to pull a shrub out of the ground in reverse.

Other than that, I haven't had any problems with it. Mine has about 900 miles on it. I use for a lot of things - hunting, pulling a 5'x8' trailer of firewood and brush, trail riding ( had my wife on board for 5 days on the Paiute and 4 in Moab), and plowing snow from my driveway. I am very happy with it.
