Default Thundercat CARB certification up

The Thundercat 950 finally is up on the CARB site.

CARB tested the 950 as 49.1 kw/65.84 hp.

The other big bore ATVs:

The Can-Am Outlander 800 46kw/61.69hp
The Kawasaki Brute Force 749 37.1 kw/49.75hp
The Polaris Sportsman 760 36kw/48.28hp
The Suzuki King Quad 722 37kw/49.62hp
The Yamaha Grizzly 686 34kw/45.59hp
The Honda Rincon 675 28.7kw/38.49

Default Thundercat CARB certification up

That is a disappointing number. How on earth can it beat a Renegade with higher gearing and a lower power to weight ratio? Maybe they did tune them down from what the original test models were. I would be suprised if it even beats and Outlander with those numbers.

Hp is important but Torque is King!

How come my 07, 7200 lbs Crew cab diesel truck beats a 3500 lbs(est) 07 Dodge Charger with a hemi in it in a 1/8 mile drag race. They both have about the same hp, Diesel is 360 hp and the 07 Charger is 345hp/. The ansewr is Torque.

The diesl has 650ft/lbs of torque and the Charger has about 350ft/lbs of torque(est)

My truck did the 1/8mile in 9.87 sec and the Charger did it in 9.9secs.

It is clear now why AC was so secretive about the HP numbers, lets hope it has the torque to back up its clame to fame.
