Can Am might follow suit, but I still dont believe there will be much market for these big machines IMO.

Runs a 730 kit from OMW with web109's and a 48mm lectron. It has some serious torque!

From what i've read on other fourms it seems as if can-am is just gonna extract a little more juice out the 800. as is it is de-tuned (im sure the cat is too).

The thing that doest make sense to me is that here in wisconsin(dont know about anywhere else) but anything over 800cc is NOT considered an atv, and CANNOT be ridden on the trails. so why do these manufactuers put out 800+ atvs?

From what I understand, Can-Am 800 produces 62hp at the crank and the new AC950 produces 76hp at the crank for a difference of +18.42% more HP from the new AC950. This 18% more HP should make the AC leave the outy800 in the dust with ease. Now as far as handling, the trailing arm independent rear suspension on the outy800 might have the edge for fast power slide riding. But in a drag, it should be hands down the new thudercat 950.

Now as far as "detuned," I don't know how the ac100 is, but the outy800 is slightly detuned and the kawie 750 vtwins and 650 vtwins have always been heavly detuned. That is why you can take a kawie with slight tunning adjustments and make a torque and hp monster. I would think this would be true for the ac950 as well.

The Thundercat has about 67hp at the crank, not 76, so it will win, but it is close, even closer with the Renegade. Put 3.6's in that kitty though and it will run away from the outy. Just picked mine up on Tuesday, and yeah its got plenty of go, not going to push it to hard until break in is over though.

I'm guessing, just guessing mind you, that the 950 is de-tuned quite a bit. It looks like it should be putting out more power than it does based on displacement and the power of other machines. Maybe not, but I'd almost bet they throttled the power down a good bit just to make it more tame on the trail.

I would guess once the aftermarket gets a hold of it they will be able to juice up the power appreciably. Likewise with a more refined set of shocks, springs and some other tweaks I would bet the handling will be addressed as well.

I think all the parts are probably there but its going to take a bit of tweaking by enthusiasts and the aftermarket to get it to perform to its potential.

I've heard the 950 is good for about 20% more power, which would make 80hp, this is without boring and whatnot. Expect more power if Can-Am ups the ante next year.

I just picked my Thundercat last week. I have ridden it very little so far, just in the parking lot and the field across the street. It goes purty good in a straight line.

Big ride planned for this weekend. I will let you all know what I think after that. I am a first time ATV owner and rider so it will take a while before I know anything.

Yes, it is actually 23% more which puts it at slightly over 76hp at the crank.
