TLC i had close to 10,000 mile's in the 14 yrs. i owned the , the Honda TRX350 Foreman 4x4 , it had a oil cooler with a fan that quit working after the first month i had it ; i had a good freind that had the same problem with the heat sencor he told me Honda wanted 79.99 for a new sencor so he put a toggle switch to turn the fan on when it got a little warm on his leg !
I was going to do the same thing but i never got around to it , my Foreman was still running strong when i sold it to my brother the same with the KQ and now in my AC 400 Auto ; i worked over 20 yrs. in the Small Engine Service and Repair Industry and no Small Engine get's more abuse than lawn and garden equipment !
I have a 35 year Snapper Comet Rider with the same 12 HP Briggs and Stratton engine , and it has never had anything but Castrol GTX oil and it has never let me down ; but to each his own the price isn't why i use this oil it just that i would ever wait as long between oil changes no matter what type or brand !........

The two main advantages of Rotella T 5-40 syn vrs Rotella T 15-40 non-syn are less cold start-up wear and extended oil change intervals. So for the fair weather riders like myself who never ride in cold weather and who regularly change motor oil every 300 miles or sooner the perceived advantages of synthetic oil are hard to find.

I would agree, what we have found is the shell Rotella T 5-40 synthetic oil lets the bikes run cooler and can stand long periods of slow riding in rough conditions. My cat has low range which is used a lot in hilly country.
We ride in 12 to 100 degrees conditions during the year and average about 35 mile a ride. we change the oil once a year generally, and each time it is a clear as when we put it in the crank case.
The good part is that it does not cost 10 to 12 bucks a quart with some ATV manufacturers name on.

Put a bottle of dino oil and synthetic oil in your freezer, then take them out and pour them out. Now see what one you want in your engine in the winter. I will never use dino again.
Synthetic oil will also save you a lot of money. That's right, SAVE. For example, on my 1995 Accord an oil change cost me about $45 using Amsoil and doing it myself. I change oil every 15,000 miles because I live in a sevier weather climate - otherwise I would go 25,000. Using the same recomendations for dino oil, I would have had to change oil 5 times within that same amount of time synthetic oil lasted me 1 oil change. I don't know where I can get my oil changed for $9, not including the time involved and the environmental effect of using the extra oil.
You pay thousands for your ATV, give it the best. Synthetic will easily go 1000 miles on the ATV's. I guarantee you that you will never hear of an ATV breaking down because the synthetic oil was in there too long. The Arctic Cat synthetic is good, I like the Amsoil myself.
Good luck to you.
