Thunder cat 1000

thursday took my cat to kms performance in phx az put it on the dyno 1st and 2nd runs were at 51-52hp. removed the air box cover got 54 plus. kelly is going to build a bigger collector and muffler 2 1/2 " pipe . the reason i'm not using speedwerx slip on is the pipe to the collector is small therefore exhaust gets restricted quicker. kelly is also building a new intake setup. speedwerx's isn't available yet and won't be till at least feb.my cat is suppose to be done by jan 10th. on the 14th going back to glamis for 5 days. keep you all up dated on the results. i forgot one thing the dyno said i was runing very rich. by doing both intake and exhaust should bringthe fuel in line. if not hopefully dynatek's power commander will have theres done. the reason for dyna tek there commander will add or take away fuel most others only add fuel.

With the talk about what members are doing to their T-Cat's I thought I'd share this:
My local dealer in Wyoming received two T-Cats the first year. He received several more this past year. He told me he really wanted one for himself immediately, but since he only received two thought it better if customers got those first machines. This past summer he uncrated one for himself and immediately sent it to a speed shop in Idaho to - are you sitting down everyone - install a turbo. I talked to him in September and he didn't have it back yet so I can't report how it runs yet. I can't imagine a 1L V-Twin with a turbo.
We talked about all the various thing you might expect; mechanical, electrical, fuel, oiling and spark concerns and so on. He knows he's breaking new ground and has had many discussions with factory engineers and the installer in order to make it as right as he can - the first time.
I suggested that as soon as he gets it done he should strip off the plastic and display it in his showroom. It's bound to be a real attention getter and could generate sales of other AC models/snowmobiles. On the other hand riding it would have to be a kick.

mcxpress is making a turbo for the tcat costs aprox 4500 you install.i'm not sure seems like it bumps it to 130hp the cost was a little prohibitting for me. on utube theirs a video on a tcat with a turbo. can you imagen the jaws dropping in a race with a bunch of sport bikes. mine already has beaten several stock 450's when the works through hope to beat lots more of sport bikes.

I always wondered about the stock collector. If it's not too much trouble I would be curious about the cost of your mods. I have been looking around about intakes cause I know there's alot of restriction with the stock one. One other thing, when are the dynotek box's available? 09 T-CAT

did you trade in your 08? if so how much did they give ya. so out the door what did it cost you to trade a year newer? so far i've had no problems but i've only got 250 miles on mine</end quote></div>
I did not trade my 08, Cat bought it back and gave me an 09 instead because of all the issues I had with my 08, I did not pay any money, no depreciated value either, mine was a strait up trade brought the 08 in unloaded it loaded up the 09 and I was on my way after some paper work.

Hey guys have any of you tried your bike against the Polaris 850 XP yet ? Not looking to bash products just honest views. There are none locally that I have seen since I got my 850.I had the local dealers T-Cat demo this summer at a drag race & sled pull event I feel the Cat & my 850 are very close in the 1/4 mile for speed both around 74 mph. I was dissapointed with the Cat in the sled-pull event as numerous bikes pulled better. In the 1/4 mle the Can_Am 800's were faster, the bike did have a 2-up seat & I weigh 300 lbs so that did not help any.

don't have any 850's sold here yet if they do i'll challenge it. my bike gets 80 in the 1/4 haven't pulled a sled. air pressure in the tires makes a big difference in the sand i would be surprised if pulling wouldn't be the same.
