I waited four weeks to get a red one, and it finally arrived. I got it home and noticed that every time I turned the key on the fan came on. The motor was ice cold. This had me worried. I called the dealer the next morning because my old 454's didn't do this. The dealer said no, this wasn't normal and that I must have a bad thermostat. So, I loaded up the ATV and took it do the dealership only to find after the mechanic inspected it and called Arctic Cat that this was a new feature on the 2000 model. The fan is supposed to run all the time.
Finally, after having the idling adjusted it was home again. I installed the stick stoppers on the AC as well as my lift kit and was waiting on the tires to arrive from Rockymountainatv when I noticed a funny little puddle of light green liquid on the garage floor. This had me extremely aggravated since the ATV hadn't even been started since I had brought it back from the dealership. It was leaking antifreeze from where you drain it. There is a little pipe smaller than a pencil with a little rubber piece covering it down near the drain plug. This wasn't on the 454s and I don't know it it's new for the 200 model, but this is where it was leaking.
I loaded the ATV up and took it back to the dealership where they informed me that the water pump seal was bad.
Why would it start leaking suddenly almost 2 week after I bought it? I hope this is not a trend and my red plastic doesn't start to change color to a brilliant yellow resembling that fabeled fruit.

Cat500, be sure to post about the water pump seal...how much it cost and everything. Are you talking about the little clear hose that runs from the "grease fittin" looking thing on the water pump to the back of the atv?

There's a little pipe right behind the bolt you remove to drain the radiator. I didn't see this on my '97 or my '98 454. I don't know if it's some sort of vent or what. The bike is under warranty so I don't know how much it cost. I didn't see the work order. I've had the bike back for a couple of day and it hasn't leaked any more, ao apparently that was the problem. The guy that worked on my cat wasn't there when I picked it up so I couldn't ask what the pipe was for. It's approximately 1/2" long and runs parallel to the ground. It doesn't point straight down.
