Default Brake noise

Thanks to all for their advice. I opted to go with an automatic Arctic Cat (see shift vs. auto). This in turn has raised another question. Whenever I apply the rear brake I hear a loud slapping or banging noise. When I talked to the service dept. about it, they said it was just a normal part of Arctic Cat's engine braking system and everything was fine. Should I be concerned or are they right? Any info and comments are greatly appreciated.

Default Brake noise

I bought my 2006 Arctic Cat 400 FIS Auto 4x4 on Feb. 7th 2006 and the first ride i noticed the same noise , it was my first AC and my first Auto i was worried about it also ; i asked my Dealer about it and was told the same !

I noticed it first when going down a steep hill without hitting the brakes , and also when going down steep slope's when i hit the brake's ; someone on the forums told me it could also be the plastic skid plate flexing !

To date nothing has broken and i've had zero problem's with my quad , so i guess it's nothing to worry about ; i still love my Cat so enjoy your ride and just keep up the maintence and you should be fine !

But you could remove the rear wheel yourself to see if the brake caliper is tight , just in case it isn't the same noise i was hearing on my 400 ; in my case i could hear the noise going down steep hill's even without hitting the brakes !.......

Thanks for the response. This is my second cat, but my first auto, also a 400. I checked the brake caliper and all is ok. That is when I notice the noise is going down steep hills. I haven't tried going down hill without the brake and listening for any noise but I will next time out. It almost seems like the sound is coming from near the brake pedal, which would be close to the engine case and belt housing so maybe that is all it is. Again, thanks for the info.

Default Brake noise

Same on my o7 650H1

There are 2 holes on the top of the break pads that the pins slide thru so there is alittle play there. I figured that was the noise maker...
