1999 arctic cat 500 wont charge

friend of mine has a 500 ac that wont charge.

any tips or specs for trouble shooting.

I hear that voltage regulator problems are not uncommon on these machines.

they are not only common, the rectifier/regulator problems ar rampent in pre04 models. that if the first thing to check, if the battery is good
