Default New Odometer

Hey All,

I have a 2004 ACT I recently had the odometer break and just received a new one. I thought this would be a simple swap but. I am unable to find and easy way to be able to unplug the odometer power cord. I see from the new one how long the cord is but I am unable to get my hands in there to find it on the ATV. Besides taking the front end off. Is there an easier way?

Thanks

I have a 2004 500 and recently had to take the front rack and plastic off to change the stoplight switch and it wasn't hard at all just a little time consuming.

I recently also had to replace the brake light switch. After seeing the problem I would have to encounter, I cut the two lines of the old switch and then also cut the plug off the new lines, leaving enough to have some play in it. I then placed a small section of Heat Shrink tubing on the lines. Once that was in place, I soldered
the old wires to the new and once cleaned up and sealed, I heated the shrink wrap and the job was done. Total time invested, about 20 minutes.

And it looks very professional, no extra wires showing. I did not have to remove any body parts or racks.

I thought about doing the same thing, the reason I didn't is that if it was the connection that was corroded and I cut the wires I would still have to take the front end apart. Glad it worked out for you.

Your decision to do it the long way was a good one. I already knew that mine was clean so that wasn't a factor for me.
