I have a 2001 Artic Cat 500 that I have tried to tighten up the heat shield on the exhaust but it still rattles..What can I do???

 

usually the bolts are bottemed out so i just put washers on mine
stopped ratteling

 

I put some high temperature washers that were made of either rubber or gasket material under mine when it was new. Rattling stopped until the aluminum shield cracked between 2 of the bolts. Then it started squeaking. I then had to tack weld the aluminum to stop the sqeaking.

The bolts will rust eventually and you will not be able to move them at all so do it early. Regular washers will probably work but I am willing to bet that they are metric bolts so you will need metric washers to get a tight fitting washer.
