i just replaced the battery in my arctic cat this winter. i used a trickle charger for 10 hours. i figured it was long enough, but the battery didn't hold a charge. recharged for another 12 hours. now it is all good.

If you read all this you would see that the starter sticking is not my problem! And my atv has no clock. It has issues draining a battery because it has two much compression. Maybe out of time? right now this piece of **** is on lake with all my ice fishing gear. I cant even budge the recoil backup. I noticed white smoke before i shut it off. Usually it starts first or second pull now rope barely comes out let alone fast enough to turn motor! Dealership said serviced and ready to go ! pff Hasn't started right since I got it

just asking, but are you releasing compression with the compression release when pull starting? again, just asking. i would definately check the cables if it were mine.

no there isnt a compression release on the 500. cables are good dude trust me when I jump the starter it does the same thing. I pull the plug and hit start and the starter spins like mad. Before it was tough to pull the rope but now no human I know could possible pull the recoil. I just had the oil changed day before yesterday and the dude said he adjusted the carb! He's a awesome with everything else but I can't help but wonder ?! maybe the adjustment to the carb is flooding it and making it hard to pull? Dont know. but I am going to try and drain the carb and clean the new spark plug which looks fouled or full of oil. Hopefully the game warden or some thief hasn't confiscated all my stuff!

a flooding carb will make it hard to pull but you will usually have a big backfire every so often

You are correct! I had no idea that a flooded carb would make it hard to pull! must be why the starter wouldnt turn it over fast enough eh?! I now have 3 new atv batteries! Lol! everyone told me I was having battery issues, or a drain somewhere. the carb drain is stripped out so my buddy told me just to pull the plug and pull it over with gas shut off throttle open. When I put the plug back in it started. I might just have someone do that though I just had surgery to repair my rotator cuff and wrenching in and out of those tight places will kill me It was hard for me to get the spark plug in and out! And besides I already convinced myself I would be spending lots on tearing the motor apart! Thanx for your reply
