Default How long does it take to warm up this cat?

The Cat is totally new to me and it seems that it will only run and run good w/ the choke on. but of coarse then it will not idle unless the choke is off...any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Tim.

Welcome to the forum!

I'm not sure I can help much. Your statement ins't making much sense???

It runs GREAT when the choke is on. But WON'T IDLE unless it's off?

So....runs great when riding under throttle? But won't idle untill the choke is off - and it floods out?

Also - WHAT's your CAT?? 400-500-650?

My 650H1 has an electric choke. My machine is cold storaged w/an Actric Cat Block htr installed on a timer. Mu machine idles rough for about 1min after I start it till the electric choke simmers down - Then it idles fine.
As I dirve and depending on the outside temp, the choke WILL periodically turn ON/OFF when the machine sits idling. It's NOT on when riding - but then I wouldn't really notice.
I set my idle up slightly in the cold temps, and turn it down when the snow is gone.

Well now, this has me confused. Granted I'm don't even have possession of mine til this Saturday but the whole choke thing is throwing me off. I this a manual choke, electric, what on these machines? My new one is a 650 H1 and I know absolutely nothing about it. (I'm really not as stupid as I sound, just getting into 4x4's late in life). If I could get a brief lesson here, that'd be appreciated.

Moverlie i have a 2006 AC 400 FIS Auto 4x4 and it has the electric chioke instead of the old manual type that were on the earlier models , the way it works on my 400 is as follows for winter starting 1. you must turn on the ignition and wait untill the displays lights up and the clicking sound of the electric fuel pump stops before atempting to start the engine ( this allows time for the fuel pump to build up pressure 2. I Reach under the right side of quad/airbox and pump the electric choke lever 2 or 3 times ( you will need to look for the lever the first time to locate it the lever has a small hole you can feel with your thumb ; this will make it easy to find without having to look under the airbox everytime you start the machine in cold wheather. 3. Then hit the start button if it doesn't start on the second or third revolution pump the lever 2 more times ( according the the tempature !

The electric choke only works with the ignition switch in the on position and by pressing the choke lever , my 2006 AC 400 has the Suzuki 376cc powered engine and this electric choke/enrichener is suppose to be an improvement over the old manual type choke models ; of this i dissagree on my previous quads ( 1986 Honda TRX350FM 4x4 and 1993 Suzuki LT4WD 300 King Quad ) the manual choke made for quicker starts in both summer and winter !

Don't get me wrong i love the 2006 AC and a lot of the many features it offers , but as far as all the new electronics , LCD pod display, toggle switch electric 2wd/4wd i could do without ; maybe i'm just an old man living in the past at 55 yrs old but it just seems like a whole lot of things that will eventually cost me more money somewhere later on down the line for sure !

Welcome to the forums and i hope i didn't scare you with what i have stated in this reply , Arctic Cat is a very well made and reliable Quad ; as good as any brand on the market in my view !..........

I have an08 650 H1 an dof course it has the electric choke. It does start pretty easy but as my dealer stated, it will idle rough for while until the choke heats reaches the temperature where it shuts off. it runs great after that. I myself like the old manual choke system. As far as running better with the choke on, I would say that there is a problem with the carbs. I would make sure the settings on the slow idle jet screws are correct. Sounds like your running to lean.
