All I did was take the shocks off the bike and then the springs of the shocks, then cut some old rubber mud flaps to fit over the shocks and then trimmed them so they look good. it cost me 0$ I found the flap on the road. I put 4, 1/4 inch pieces on the bottom of the shock raised the bike about 1 ½ to 2 inches its cheap and not that hard no more rubbing tires it helped with stearing, much easer

you know it took a sec for your idea set into my thickhead, but thats a great idea, ive heard bout spacers for quads but because i own a king quad there arent many suspension parts avail to me. I had been thinking about making my own lift but i didnt think about spring spacers. Great idea

I done this on my AC500. It does lift it but will ride rougher. Just remember with springs spacers a little goes a long way

Fretzo38 was the first one I ever seen do this. Then Cowbay also did this with out knowing that Fretzo did this too.

I'm caculating that i can get 15" of clearance with this kind of lift PLUS a high lifter lift, but I will find out one day.

Yeah, I made my spacers out of a stainless steel shaft collar. I've got 1/2" up front, with 3/8" in the rear still. They work great, and gave about 1 1/2" of lift overall, which was great for ground clearance gains. Niteowl is right though, they do stiffen the ride a bit. I've got a lot of weight up front, so I don't notice it as much, and honestly, with the spacers the machine feels more stable on the steeper sidehills. Boner, I wouldn't be surprised if you could get 15" clearance with the combination of both lifts. I wonder though, how that will affect your joints??? If you do make it work, get some pictures if you can, I'd love to see it!

Cowboy, I forgot to mention that it's 15" with the STOCK TIRES. I'm sure the CV's would not last long, but I would only run the lift like you did when in hard core mud, like marengo.

BTW: I'm working with High Lifter on a Proto type lift kit. I noticed a couple of typo's on the directions and called it in. Well it has blown up into Greg deciding to TOTALLY redo the lift kit from the start and try to improve on an already SUPER design. I realy can't say much about it, but I will say that Greg is on his way to something nearly impossible. Making the lift kit better than it already is.

Damn! Man, with 'Claws you could probably gain at least another inch or so, due to the shear size of the 'Claws, and the air pressure you run, up to 28". Man, that would be one HUGE 'Cat! I wonder how much lift Scotto has on his? He had the 28" Outlaws if I remember, and a lift as well if I remember right. I think he was about the KING of mods/addons, man, you remember his signature from a long time ago, with everything he'd done to it, definately a nice machine.

As for the new lift design, man, that's awesome! Good luck with the development and design, maybe you could get something back out of the deal as well, such as money from a patent, maybe parts for your 'Cat, or hell, even just a job with H.L., that would be cool too. Let me know if it works out, I'm sure it will take quite a while for the design and testing phases, but it sounds cool. I wonder what the cost would be when it's all said and done, I'd be interested in a little more lift for my machine. Guess I really don't NEED more lift, but hey, more ground clearance is nice in some circumstances. That's what's nice about the spring spacers, you can pull them out pretty easily on the trail if you wanted, with just the tools in the AC tool kit if need be.

Good luck with the project!

Mike
