(1) More CV Boot Question...
#1
Is it possible to replace both inner and outer boots by sliding them over the inner side of the axle? I have read the instructions on a thread from this site and the faq on "thecvman" site. I have done similar replacements on Kawasaki's, but have never worked on an Artic Cat. This is a friend of mine and the joints are in good shape, but both boots are split on one side. This is my idea: Remove wheel/tire > nut on hub > lower control arm > remove inner boot and c-clip > pull whole axle assembly out > remove inner cv > slide both boots over from this end...Will this work?
Thanks in Advance, dm

Method you describe is correct. WHen you remove the circlip on the axle and remove the inner CV (one closest to the Diff) what you hav eleft is the axle shaft and the outer CV boot/joint. If you cut the clamps off the outer boot it slides off the shaft towards the inner CV side.
Put it back together in Reverse. Outer CV boot, slide out over the CV joint then the inner CV boot. I found it best to totally install the outer CV boot, grease and everything then slide the inner boot onto the shaft, apply graease packet, install inner CV and clamp the boot. (per the CV man's instructions)
Sorry I do not have any pictures but I do remember finding a Youtube video clip on the process a while ago. Might look for that if you want to.
