my 09 700 H1 TRV got buried and it was very hard to keep the bike going. It finally stalled out and after much work I got it out. I drained the belt housing when I got out and it took which seemed forever to drain.
So my question is...is this normal for a buried bike, and does this require any other cleaning methods?

 

I would do more than just drain the housing if you were buried in mud....you will still have lots of mud/dirt left in the housing as well as every other nook and cranny on the bike.
You should also drain the oil and gas. Change the oil filter. Take the air filter out and clean out the housing. Depending on how long you had the axles under water/mud, you will want to see if the gear oil is milky

 

i just checked the air filter and everything seemed pretty clean. I did an all around check and cleaned the whole bike and was surprised to see everything in good shape. I was sure the air filter would be full of crap but again minor debris.
The bike now has 10 hrs on it so I need to do an oil change so I guess i'll see what is in the oil if anything...Thanks

After your ride, take care of the machine, clean it out real good, go to the car wash if needed. After mudding and water riding for a day, I wash it good and towel dry it. I change my diffs once a year no matter what. Amsoil of course The diffs on these cats, along with most everything else is sealed up very well. Unless it missed a quality control part, you shouldnt have water in places it shouldnt be. Ive never had milky diff ol, and Ive been standing on my seat plenty of times.
