arctic cat 250 dies in 1st grear, please help!

arctic cat 250 dies in 1st grear, please help!
I have a 2004 250 2x4, starts great, runs great, goes in reverse great and moves great in reverse, but as soon as i change to first it dies, what gives??? is it some sort of switch or sensor, don't know, please help, thanks
