I have an 06 650 Prowler and it has an electric choke. Not sure if they put them on the 05 ATV but if they did is it working?
On a side note, I am interested in putting the recoil pull starter on my Prowler. It has the same cover as the ATV with the pull cord and has all the internal parts. Is your machine hard to pull start "pull over"?
I am not sure if AC did something to the ATV for this pull start to work, like a compression release or something.

But there's a lot of electronic's on the new machine's that i could do with out , but i guess it's just progress in action that the manufacturer's thought people wanted or needed ; i've had to change 2 thing's on my 2006 AC 400 FIS first thing i had to replace all the plastic fuel hose and i just bought new battery 10/08/2009 .
The battery i replaced the original Arctic Cat battery with was a sealed maintence free one from Auto Zone , the original cat battery had a 165 cold cranking amp battery and the new one from Auto Zone is a 200 cold cranking amp battery ; so it should make starting a little easiers than the Cat battery ( at least i hope so).
You could have a blown fuse causing the electric choke not to work , but my 400 electric choke was working and took still more revolution's to start that the manual choke carb's on the Honda and Suzuki ; i hope this help's you out and welcome to the forums !

i have an 06 v2 and had the same issue. didnt want to start while cranking but would start off the pull start on first try. it may not same like it because it seems to crank over easy, but your battery is part of your problem. just replaced my battery this week and it made a huge difference. i put the old battery in an old suzuki road bike (300cc) and it wouldnt even begin to turn the bike over but was turning over the v2.
next thing to check is the choke, make sure it is working as it should. these chokes are known for sticking and the cables or the thumb lever breaking. oil your cable well annaully.
i had a broken thumb lever and didnt know it, felt like it was working,
check your valve adjustment. this can cause hard starting if your v2 has any sort of mileage on it,
my ac starts so much better now than it did when i purchased it. i still have to let it idle for a few minutes before riding in really cold weather but at least now i know it will start when i go out to play. good luck.
