Default Gas Milage Question

Got the new (leftover) 08 AC 650 TRV last month. Went out today for the first real ride. It says it holds 5.5 gal before reserve. We went 32 miles and only had just shy of 1/4 tank left. So that would mean I am getting like 7.5 MPG. Is this what I should expect? Or is there something wrong?

AC gas guages are junk.

Drain your tank dry, put a gallon of gas in it, and see how far you ride (carrying some extra gas with you of course)

Heres one fill your gas tank write the mileage down go for a ride then meter or go to the gas station and see how many gallons you put in to get your mileage I have 3-500 man. and only one gauge works. with 4500 miles plus.

With my 500 TRV I can go about 100-150mi on a tank but if I push it to the upper end I had better have some extra because she is dry. It also depends a lot on what kind of driving you are doing and if 4x4 is being used.

I think my tank is like 4+ gallons plus a reserve.

All gas guages are junk,I never seen one that was accurate, motor bike, sled or ATV. I shove a stick down the hole or use the trip meter,at 100 miles start to worry.

Your '08 has a RESERVE?

I can put between 100-120miles on my '08 650H1 TRV per tank. It normally gets about 17-22mpg depending on type of riding.
If I'm riding 2-UP the average drops to about 90 miles per tank. Normally I average 30-50 miles per ride. I have pushed 85miles in one day... but that's pretty rare.

On the "flip" side the wifey's '09 550H1 EFI has a 6.5gal tank and she's getting 30+mpg. When we ride I avg. just under 2gal of gas to her 1.

Toooo many variables (Carb/EFI - 2-Up/Single - Machine/Rider weight - Terrain - Temperature) to get an accurate reading. I just fill up both machines before each ride that requires distance.

Oh I should mention that when I'm 'working the TRV pushing snow in L - I gave up trying to figure out how BAD the mileage was. The last time I filled 3wks ago it re-set the trip OD and it's sitting @5.5miles and I've burned thru 1/4 tank of gas.

I have an 08 650 H1 and i never get as good of mileage as you are all showing, maybe it's because i play in mud ALOT and get stuck and waste time trying to get out lol. So i should be able to get like 80-100 on mine too then i would think huh? Oh also i agree with the gas gauges never being accurate on them either but i do get worried when it's down to 1 bar constantly for awhile.

Me and my wife 500's get about 130to180miles to a tank depending on trail conditions the boys 500 might get 100 miles to a tank he's is always rev up.
the best we've done is 180 on the river when it's froze and no snow.
