cv boot replacement

cv boot replacement
I just replaced some cv boots on an arctic cat 500. When I did the replacement I was able to pull out the inner knuckle (closest to the differential) completely apart to replace the boots. The knuckle closest to the tire I couldn't figure out how to get that one apart. How does it come apart? Whats the trick? If the splines on the axle hub was bad, how would I get the knuckle apart to change the end? The cv joint closest to the wheel does not pull apart like the one closest to the differential did with the little C clip.
Thanks for your help.

it does have a c clip, you just can't see it,what i do is put it in a vice so that the cv is on top then holding the axle under the vice use it as a slide hammer, and bang of the cv off, when you go to put the cv back on, you will have to use a little screw driver to help push the c clip,or start the c clip back down into the cv
