Brakes on arctic cat 400

The only thing i could think of . is pull the wheel's after each ride when nudding and give them a good clearing , regreasing the part of the caliper that slide's freely when braking and insure that release the pad's from the caliper when you release the brake's ; this shouldn't take an hour's ; labor alot cheaper that rebuilding the brake's .

I put a lot of miles on my machines on a saltwater beach and the sand and grit will eat thebrake pads if its not cleaned off. I hose it off good after a ride and about every 3 months remove the tires, remove two 10mm bolts holding the caliper and clean the brake calipers. It takes less than an hour and lets you check out your wheel bearing seals up close as a bonus.
On a side note I will add that I replaced the pin that the brake pads slides on. I am not sure what type of metal the original one is made of but it corrodes up and the pads will not slide very well on it. So I did a bit of engineering (not really) and use a 16penny nail trimmed down to about 2.5 inches and bent at the end so it won't slide out. WHen I have to remove it I cut the bend off with my dremel tool and remove it. The nail rusts up as well but not in 3-4 months plus it is cheaper to replace that the OEM pin and clip that pops off in the first mud hole.
