Default Looking for a bit more power from my 400

Just picked up a 2006 400. I am sure with factory tires and wheels I would be more than pleased with the power. However the grip these gators provide seems to be a bit much for this little 400. What are some things I could do that would net me a few more ponys?

A clutch kit helps with oversize tires but it dont add horse power. it just gives a little better throttle response and a lower end power. makes a lower gear in other words which feels like more power. wont be too helpful at higher speeds. i put one on my 700 b/c i run 28" tires. they run about 150.00 depending on what you get. For me it works great since i use mine for hunting and trail riding. Helps turn them tires a little easier which is good on the belt.

Forgot to mention its semi auto or 5spd with clutchless shift. Was looking at some diagrams though because I was thinking stiffer springs on the clutch would engage it at a higher rpm and help with the bogging problem. The one area where I am thoroughly disappointed is the reverse. It has no power at all. If you get stuck you cant back out because the ratio is way too high. Just bogs and wont do anything. Oh well, not much I can do about that though.

Yeah there is a reverse mod that can be done, the problem is the reverse gear is in high range only so you have to do some kinda mod to the cam that points the reverse to the low range instead. Carb slide mod and some 42lb stall springs from speedwerx will do alot for your 400 and not to mention snorkels for better airflow. Also do the muffler mod and when thats done rejet the carb, that bike can be a beast no doubt!! Here is a pic of mine and the engine is stock on mine!! Its an 06 400 auto with 500 plastics and the tires are 29.5 laws!!

Ok, a few things.

1. what is this muffler mod?
2. Can you recommend a jet kit?
3. I dont have an auto so my clutch would need a different mod.
4. What is this reverse mod and do you have anymore info on it?
