well i pick up this cat the frist one that I have had so dont much about it. It not running right it is backfireing and not charging the bat does this mean that I have a bad mag or reg it will not run at all without the bat. I have claen the carb didnt help with the running of it. any help with this would be nice.

 

may have fount it would regulator make it backfire at high rpms any help would be very helpful.

 

check or replace your regulator. these are known to go bad on these 300s. mine did it also.

 

Plus 1 on regulator there real common problems with them...IMO.

if it isnt charging and maintaining a charge they will sometimes run like crap. so yes possibly.

 

Yes can run bad when not charging,most of theses[if not all] arctic cat atvs have an 12 volts[DC] ignition system and if not charging it can,t maintian 12 volts to igniton [cdi,coil].

 

Well havent got a new regutator yet but going to get one does any one know where to get one at a good price trying to do it myself thanks for the help. wel let you all know how it turn out. ps i did tell you all that the old boy that had it hook the battery up backwards so dont know what could be wrong.

No it was shot and it had burn some of the wireing also. I put a new one in it and it started and will run but to good and will not charged the bat thanks for the reply keep them comeing
