Greetings.

I am trying to find out what this part is called or does.?
One of the wires is smoking when we try to start it.
Repaired and replaced the wires, but they still smoke
It is a 2006 Arctic Cat 500 4x4 with manual shift 5 speed.
Any help would be appreciated..

I went to COUNTRYCAT.NET and pulled up a parts schematic of your machine.

The part your wondering about is the GEAR SHIFT POSITION SWITCH #SKU: 3402-816

I'm assuming there's a indicator on your gauge pod that shows you what gear your in.

This least expensive I can find this part online is $80. The same part on the same year Suzuki Vinson is $50. Do you know if Suzuki and Arctic Cat Engine parts are interchangable?

Your 500 IS a Suzuki engine.

Not sure if the parts "cross-match" or not. Depends on the harness/gauge indicator set-up.

I guess you could order one.....and if it doesn't fit...send it back.

All Suzuki parts are really expensive, it cost me 50 bucks for a side panel for my 01 KQ 300
