Some times I take a small pair of vice grips and lock them onto the screw ans can loosen them up that way. I have a pait that have a needle nose on them, them work the best.
If there is a screw I cannot get the vise grips on them I soak it with some WD40 and let it sit over night.
Welcome to the forum, I hope this helps.

thanks swampy i decided to go a different route i used a dremmel tool w/ a cutoff wheel and slotted the top of the screws and bam they came rite off. once i got that done cleaned all the jets (they were packed with shiite) anyways i gave it a good soak with carb cleaner assembled it all back and it runs not great but it runs rode it for the 1st time in 3 yrs. may have a guy i work with check it out for me hes pretty good with them

Hey, that works too! At least you can get it apart and cleaned. I have had to use a small strand of wire from a chunk of electrical wire to run through each of the jets. There are so many small hole that crud can get lodged in. Usually between compressed air and a small wire you can clean them out and blow air through them.
You should add some SeaFoam fuel additive in a fairly high amount to a partial tank of fuel and run the engine for a spell. That stuff will not only clean out some of the residual crud you can't see it will also act as a fuel stabilizer in case you park the machine for an extended amount of time again. I think in some parts of the U.S. parking an ATV for an extended amount of time can be considered ATV abuse!
