Default 02 375 growling noise

I have an 02 Arctic Cat 375 4x4 auto. When it is reved up in neutral, it sounds like rocks rattling in the belt cover. In any gear it growles and gets louder the harder you put it under load. I took it to my closest dealer and they said I had to leave it there just for someone to listen to it. I talked the service manager into walking out to listen and he said it was quiet for an 02. Since then I have heard of a problem with a nut coming loose behind the rear pulley inside the transmission. Anyone know anything about this? To me it is very noisy and annoying! Maybe I should just go back to the unbeatable Honda! Any help appreciated!

I was going to mention the "NUT" issue also. Ive heard of the issue on several 375 and 400 models. A friend bout a 400 brand new and drove it for 2 years when i finally ran int him while hunting one day and told him that his bike is incredibly loud. He thought it was just the way it was because it did it since new,i told him to take it in to the dealer because its not normal. It was the nut and he couldnt believe how quiet it is now. The other thing that also sounds like rocks rattling around are Acorns. I had a mouse build a nest in my air filter housing but had all her nuts stored in my belt housing. so when i gave it gas or just at idle, the nuts would get thrown around.

Default growling noise

Thanks mudslinginfool. I had previously removed the belt cover and there was nothing in there. Everything inside looked good. Guess I'll have to decide whether to take it to the shop or tear into it myself. I do have mechanical skills and do most work myself. Thanks again. Has anyone tried to tackle this loose nut problem?
