overheating light

Default overheating light

1999 artic cat 400 4x4. i just got it a few days ago and if i ride it for any lenth of time the overheating light will come on the first time it turned off after a few mins. the secound time i just shut it off. it full on fluid oil, the oil cooler seams very clean. Please help thanks. also if it makes any diff. it like 30 degress here. the light that comes on is the one with the wavy lines on the bottom and the thermometer in the middle

try replacing thermostate.does your fan come on and does your raditor full of anti freeze

i would also check the dioade for fan and test fan unhook fan and use some jumper wires and a 12 volt battery.if fan works when you jump it check fuse and diode.
