First off, I believe your front diff is the same as mine from my 98 300. Their is no limited slip. Its a 2wh, 4wh open, and 4wh lock type diff. It sounds like your cable is out of adjustment, where it is not fully grabbing the splines for 4wh lock and is slipping back to 4wh open (open diff like most cars where it can sometime/most times spin one wheel). I would undo the cable from the front diff and run it thru all three positions (you should feel the detents on the scyro) looking from the left side at the lever, all the way clockwise should be 2wh drive and all the way counterclockwise should be 4wh lock. In between should be 4 wh open. Adjust cable so you will have all three positions. I am running from memory on this, and its been a bad weekend for me, but I believe my info is true.

If yours front diff has a cable to switch from 2wd to 4wd then it is problably like mine. Remove the cable from the diff and make sure that it is stopping at the detents and not overshifting. You will feel the detents as you move the lever up and down. But like I said above, if it is a cable shifted one, there are actually three detents, the fartherest one ccw is 4wd lock. The factory cable only has enough throw to it two switch between two of these detents. While looking at a parts list from one of the online parts houses, I notice yours could possible have a different type of diff.

Mine has a rod you pull out 2 put in 2wd and push back in for 4x4 .I pulled the diff last night it is stoping at the detens like you said .so I tore it apart I think its the assemble the makes it switch from 1 wheel to the other it is a closed unit in there that can;t be taken apart. The good news is I found one that is very close to mine and it does have the 3 positions you spoke of. The guy i got it from said he thought it was out of 1999 400 4x4 the the beval and main gear had a defferent number of teeth so i swated them out with mine so it whould match my rear diff

Not your diff...sounds a lot more like one of your cv joints on your axles is going.
