That is an AWESOME price!!! If all their parts are that cheap, I should tattoo their site on my arm!

Another dead 03 400 here. Sounds alot like now nuttman's went down. Hadnt run it in a couple weeks, had it in the garage idling.....hopped on, gave it a little gas, and boom dead. Wouldnt start.

Troubleshot for an hour and found no spark. So it sounds like I know what to chase this weekend. Reading about this on-line and it sounds like a notorious issue for the 400s since the magnets are glued to the flywheel. Advice to all other 400 riders....if your machine is having a hard time starting, and runs a little rough when you first give it gas....might want to check those magnets.

From experience, has anyone had any problems with the flywheel after theyve glued the magnets back on? Read a couple of opinions other places that is a no-no.

Default Don't Waste Your Time

Don't waste your time trying to glue the magnets back on! I only had two magnets off when I tried to glue them back on.
I had everything as clean as possible, used JB Weld Quick, let it cure for over 24 hours, and it still failed! When those magnets came loose again, the other four came off also.
Unless you have a better adheisive (possibly enriched with unobtainium) I won't bet on them holding.
Granted, I use my machine everyday, but, I DO NOT hot-rod it at all! On a farm, a 4-wheeler is a tool, not a toy, and we cannot afford to be without it.

Read my previous posts about working on the engine in that area. You will see the gasket is VERY important!! Repeat: the gasket is VERY important!!

I was told of a shop in NH that is selling the magnetos far cheaper than I ever found. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name.

Broke the left side of the engine apart yesterday. Found 2 magnets off and stuck to the stator. One was solid, the other in pieces.

It appears the stator is ok. Ill work on getting the flywheel ordered to replace now.

Next question.......the one magnet that shattered left pieces attached to the stator. How do I go about cleaning that the "right" way before putting back together?

thanks.

They're not going to give me my money back, and since Arctic Cat pays the dealer for all warrant work, the dealer seems happy to just keep doing warranty work and making money.
