I've got a 4x4 turbo deisel setup incase we see bad weather or have to haul some unexpected gear. I have plenty of sick days to use at work. waco4whlr and I are going to have a Texas Cat ride in a month or so and talk more then. What days are hunting season? What about hunter certification? Tags? Any info there will help me get organized down here and purchase the required materials or attend classes. Thanks.

IdahoCatMan:
Hey, you know I'm in! Still looking forward to running up there with you though through the summer for a little scouting. Maybe if we're lucky we can find a nice herd and show them Texans what kind of elk Idaho really has! heh heh heh. Anyway, as soon as things start slowing down a bit, I'll try to get ahold of you and plan a trip up that way to start a scouting trip. Just got back today with a full trailer load of logs, going back tomorrow to pick up another one, so I'm pretty well busy right now.

Anyway, looking forward to hearing from you, keep me posted. Oh hey, did anybody ever hear if CatLance was planning on coming or not??? I haven't seen him in a while-Hey Lance, you still out there??? Still planning on coming out this way??? Like somebody said earlier, it would be awesome-the "First Annual Idaho Arctic Cat Elk Hunt"!

Looking forward to it, lets make it happen!

Mike

Hey Mike, I know all are comming. Just wanted to find out if they have contacted the ID. game dept. yet.I think you can still buy over the counter through hunting season, but not sure. I'll call today and find out. They're always changing laws.

Hey Mike,

I've been lurking around a little, I've been awful busy at work (which is a good thing because it relates to more $ for me). I've also started doing a lot of outside work at the new homestead. Things are going very nicely there also, I need to do a lot of bobcat work to get all the water to drain off like it should. I've already mowed about 6 acres with my new ExMark Lazer (what an awesome mower!). I red the thread about the Elk Hunt & had a little contact with IdahoCatman. My Dad & I are very interested in going, it is just hard to think about hunting right now with everything else I'm working on. I'm going to try to check out the website today regarding tags & deadlines. If you find out the details please pass them along.

We are very interested in going but still have a few decisions to make regarding timing. I hope the season doesn't fall around the end of Sept. because I have tickets to the new raceway here in KC & I can't miss that race.

Better get to work,

Later Lance

Jim,

I visited the IDF&G site. What zone or area of the state is the area you are talking about in?

A Non-Resident Elk tag is $338.50 each. It looks like some of the zones are sold out already for the 2001 season, but you can get on waiting lists for returned tags (like someone would return a tag!!!) Some of the zones have overlapping seasons where you could hunt for elk & either Whitetail or a Muley. That would be the ultimate for me.

Jim, please give any info you can on where the area is.

Thanks,

Lance

Thanks Jim,

As of 3-2-01, Panhandle B has 1423 elk tags still available. I'm downloading the hunter's handbook with all the details now.
