Im in the market for a "new" 4 wheeler and im looking at a 1998 Arctic Cat 454 or a 2007 Yamaha BB 400. Which would be the better buy? The AC is older and in the process of getting fixed the gentleman (who is also my boss) fixing it buys, fixes, then sells 4 wheelers and I don't know whats wrong with it, whereas the BB is newer but has had 2 or 3 boots replaced in its lifetime and cant idle unless choked, and has rims for a straight axle but its an irs so im worried about bearings plus I know this bike and its had a hard life.

 

When I buy used I go buy condition not year. I seen mint shape 2000s and rough shape 2009 ATVs many times.
I turned down a few 2007 Sportsmans that were only 2 years old before getting a 2001.

Don't buy a used 2011 checker cab. Buy grandma's 1999 impala instead.

 

I agree the BB is not in rough shape but not in good shape either like I said had 2 or 3 boots replaced in its lifetime, wont idle, the rims scare me.

 

Won,t idle may just be a carb cleaning and CV boot replace is just part of the sport.

When I buy used I just want it to need gas and me as a driver.

 

Ha ya but I know of only one boot having been punctured, the others I don't remember anything puncturing them, also the rims I don't want to be replacing bearings every 6 months. I know it seems im against the BB and want the 454 but im just being thorough, I need to look at the 454.
