Very nice looking ATV. Wonder if the steel tank is a LE only item. My 2014 MXU 450 has a plastic tank inside the outer plastic cover. I have not noticed the brakes bleeding off. I have locked one of the brakes and came back a couple of days later. Started out the shed and was like what's wrong with this thing. Okay, sadly I have done this more than once. Then remembered the brake. Having no park is weird thou.

Check your tank again....sure it is steel? Read a post on another forum and they claim theres was plastic and does have a parking brake, according to web site all adult machines have a parking brake.. my parking brake is mechanical and hold for days, I frequently try to move with it on and it takes a lot of power to over ride that brake.

The brakes are very good, but all hydraulic brakes will bleed down eventually. That is why you don't see them on most vehicles as parking brakes. Try parking on a steep slope overnight in neutral with only the parking brake on. Maybe that is why Kymco uses TWO parking brakes?

Interesting your tank is plastic. You tested with a magnet? I did, hoping it was non-magnetic stainless steel. The MXU 450i has been out since 2012, I think, so I imagine there have been changes. I can not see the LE having a negative option, like steel instead of plastic. Plastic is way better. There is also a "Prime" option, and a "Camo" option.

Another thing: The descent control (engine braking) works amazingly well. I can descend a 33% slope with no manual braking at all. Try THAT on my Honda.

I don't know if you guys bought service manuals, but it seems the maker is deferring to CyclePedia for them. You can get an online subscription or a paper manual. I ordered the latter for $32.

I am going to pull the fenders off this week.

I use cyclepedia and have both online and printed copy. If you were to aquire a factory service you will need an interpreter from Tiawan to know what it says. With the online subscription you also get a site that will answer questions you might have.

Well, my 450i has all been apart and back together.

I reset the front wheel alignment (too much toe-out), rat-proofed all vents, greased the lug nuts, adjusted the valve lash, inspected the battery, cleaned the air filter, built a custom steel luggage box, and made a chainsaw scabbard.

Since my closest dealer has been bugging me about buying a new one, I asked if they have the 450i UTV. No. Just the ATVs from Kymco. My guess is that since they are also a Polaris dealer, they push Rangers, Generals, and RZRs.

Anyway, here are some more pix.

I put wire screening in front of the CVTs air ducts, similar to what I did for the air intake.

BTW, I checked parts listings for the fuel tank, as well as what is pictured in my new service manual. Plastic tanks were made for both the MXU and Maxxer. Steel, too, apparently. Over $400 for a new one!

Rats/mice will still be able to sqweeze themselves between those wires. A full size New York City rat can get thru a hole the size of a quarter.
When I park my wheeler for ANY duration of time, overnite to a week I always cover the engine and cvt openings. I have homemade snorkles and the cap to a big can of carb cleaner will fit snuggly over the snorkel openings.
Mice, sqwirrels and rats just LOVE to snuggle into a warm engine/cvt opening when its a tad chilly outside.

We will see. Around here, the problem is primarily "wood rats", aka packrats. We do have the full-size rats here (Ratus ratus and Norwegian rats), too, but they are rarely seen or infesting equipment. Mice are here, too, but not a big problem.

The solution to rat damage in cars/SUVs/pickups parked outside is to leave the hood open overnight.

Here is the gas cap on my 450i. It looks like a locking cap, but it is not. I read about the 450i having a locking cap on one of the online ATV review sites. Some seem to have it and some do not.

Does the 450i UTV have a locking cap?

No...my 450i utv does not have a locking cap but it does look like a locking cap. Adding a light under your machine will also keep rodents away, most prefer dark areas!
