Default Shift linkage ajustment

My 2003 500 automatic doesn't seem to be totally engaged when the shift lever is in the normal drive position (not the low range). I've checked the manual that I've down loaded and it doesn't seem to mention the proper adjustment position. Any help?
Thanks in advance.

Does it do this from neutral to drive or low to drive?

I was doing alot of stop and go today with quick starts.I did notice mine would make a little grinding before engaging if I went from turning the key in neutral to pushing the handle into drive quickly. If I took my time,no problem.

I've been just leaving it in gear and starting it , but that doesn't explain the problem.

No it don't .Today I was noticing if you start it,let it run at idle for a second er two it would just slide right in,but if you start it and try to jam it in there right away you get that grinding noise like it's not properly engaged.
