First of all...Yes this site is the best!!

Second of all, I too am just about to buy a 4X4 ATV. Did my research (most of it in this awesome site in each of the forums), went to the dealers and made up my mind 2 months later. Save yourself a bunch of trouble and buy an AC500.
They have options many don't such as selectable 2/4 wheel drive, the best engine braking system on the market, nice set of stock tires, high ground clearance, semi-independent rear suspension, and the best price. This is the truth: If Polaris didn't weigh as much as your Jeep, require zerk greasing all the time, and continually break down, it would be hands down, the best. BUT, all else considered you won't be sorry with the AC 500. I'm one day from owning one and can't wait until I can hop on it and find the biggest mud hole I can to watch the front diff go to work! From everyone I've spoken with and from all the articles out there, the front diff will spin both front tires with authority when needed.
If you want point blank the best in durability - even after reading BONER's message, I'd go with Honda, BUT AC's are just as reliable. Two solid reasons NOT to go with Honda are 1.) The suspension and brakes suck! 2.) They are only 3-wheel drive. At least AC’s will spin both front tires once in a while. AC’s just don't have the track record yet to pull even with Honda, but they will have very soon as more Hondas break down and AC’s continue to be trouble-free.
I also spoke with two separate AC dealers who told me stories of when customers had troubles with their AC's most other dealers wouldn't be able to help them with. For instance, a person called up an AC dealer and told him after less than ONE MILE on his AC 500, he drove down the driveway and ran over a huge nail. Blew the tire out the same day he brought it home. The dealer spoke with him and then called Arctic Cat expecting them to say it wasn't their problem. They actually said to the dealer "Do everything you can to make the customer happy. Replace the tire for free" !!! That's customer service!
