Tire envy
#1
I own a 2013 trv700, 2up. For Christmas we dressed up my son-in-laws 08 brute force with a set of rims and ITP mud lite xl. Now I have tire envy when I look at his. New enough to the sport that I'm asking for suggestions on what tires to check out for OE replacements?
I'm really only trail riding now, but sooner or later the grandson will get big enough to hit some of the harder trails. Want to stay stock size as I still have to keep my wife comfortable on the trail, but still would like to go with a slightly more aggressive tread, or deeper lugs without going crazy.
Hopefully, somebody out there has been through this and can offer up some good suggestions to look at. Thanks for any and all replies.

For myself I have been very pleased with the GBC Dirt Devil's for a trail tire and they seem to have good clean out from mud (I don't go looking for mud so I can't tell you how they would do in a bog), but they have good solid grip on the trails. I like the looks of the Swamp Lite and the Outback AT.

I use these and love em. They have never left me stranded in the mud by the time i loose forward momentum they have still always pulled me out in reverse. Great all around tire as long as their on the ground they will keep pulling. First thing i ordered for my machine only use the stock tires got were while i was waiting for them to come in

Unless you are mudding with it, take a look at a good old fashioned know by lime the itp holeshot atr. Sportier can get through some major crud on holeshots, with your longer wheelbase and 4x4 thick gooey mud holes would be about the only thing that would stop you I would think.

Your Mudlite (XL) are not a bad choice they are more aggressive then stock tires yet not Mudlites true Mud tire which is the even more agressive (XXL) version.
A Mudlite (XL) 25% worn out after a 1000 miles is like a new Mudlite (AT).

Maxxis Zillas only have the tall aggressive lug in the 26" and above size. The 25" and less have a general trail lug of about of 3/4" .
Yes, they are the lightest 6ply made I think.

It sounds like the original poster wasn't looking for the meatiest and most aggressive, just something better than stock that won't knock your teeth loose on harder packed trails. Kenda Bearclaws or Mudlite ats would be good choices too. The Sedona Mud Rebels are similar as well. All are good all-purpose tires and I think that's what he's looking for.
