Seat and brakes 01 500 auto??

I do not ever remember anyone having a problem with the seat coming off on a AC. Are you sure that the seat release lever is pushed back or forward (can't remember which direction)after re-install the seat? This is what "locks" the seat in place.
The brakes will make noise when new or have been wet. Did you follow the instructions on breaking in new brakes? If this won't work, they make a prouduct you can apply to the brakes to stop the squeaking.
Good luck with your new Cat.

I have inspected the seat lever with and without the seat "locked on". Can't see anything wrong with it.
I'll continue to break in the brakes as instructed in the manual - haven't heard other bike's brakes squeak like that though. I'm not panicking or anything, just wondered if others had any brake problems on new cats.
Thanks for the reply

Winston, what is the stuff you can put on yur brakes to make them stop squeeking? I have had my AC 500 for about a year now and they continue to squeek even when not applying the brakes. I did burnish them as the manual stated and I tried to powerwash them at the dealers reccomendation. Other than this issue, I have had no problems.

I speak from experience on this one. There is nothing to place directly on the pads only on the backing plate of the pads to the caliper piston. Some are like a glue and others are just lubricants that help the pads from resonating in the caliper thus making squeaking or squilling noises. I just had to replace my entire set of pads on both my cats after only 250 miles and 3 months. Mud and sand do terrible things to the brakes. I did not use the brakes hardly at all!! As for the man with the new machine check and make sure your brake handle is releasing all the way and that the caliper is also releasing. The pads may simply be dragging on the rotor. When my pads wore out they acted just like they would in a car or truck there was a grinding noise all the time and tons of noise when I did apply the brakes. I went woth EBC's pads since they where cheaper than the factory pads and I had heard some good things about them on the polaris forum. Hope this helps some.

YankeeAutoCat:
I had the same problem recently with the seat coming off of my new 2001 500 Manual. I fixed it by installing metal washers in the two mounting bolts and inserting them under the latching bracket. This raised the latch mechanism height around 1/16 - 1/8 inch and now it latches fine. Give this a try and see if it works for you too!
