2002 Arctic Cat 375 auto stuck in first gear?
Just bought my wife a 2002 Arctic Cat 375 Auto with 480 miles, the sucker looks brand new and still has the paint on the muffler. question is I put it in high and run down my block enough to get it up to 25-30 mph and it doesn't sound like it shifts, is this normal on these? I don't hear the rpm's getting maxed out but i don't hear it drop down at all either, is that normal on these? New to Arctic Cat and pretty much four wheeling

That's normal for a cvt belt drive machine. With only 480 miles the belt should be like new. As they get a lot of miles on them, the belt starts to wear and needs to be replaced but thats usually after several thousand miles. My Grizzly had just over 3000 miles on the original belt before it needed replaced. The machine will start to lose power with a worn belt, that's when you know its time to get a new one. I assume it was still accelerating at 30 mph, it should go much faster than that in high range, probably top out at around 50 mph or so. In low range, the gearing is much lower, probably about 25 mph is all it will do. My Grizzly will top out at just over 60 mph in high, in low about 28-30 mph so its roughly about a 2 to 1 gear reduction in low range.
