new 2004 400atv, proper shifting

Default new 2004 400atv, proper shifting

i did not get an owners manual with thus unit, its auto,but can some one tell me proper way to shift, can i shift from 2-4 and 4-2 in gear and on the fly or should i be in neutral,thanks for any info

you should be stopped before switching to 4x4 or 2x4.

fOR YOU MANUAL SHIFT FOLKS: Same with Hi and Low range. Sometimes, if it's hard to get out of low, I'll put it in Reverse and back up a foot or so. Kinda like my old Dodge PU..

Most quads are shift on the fly 4x4. Maybe this model of Arctic Cat is different. You don't want to be going 40 mph and shift into 4x4. Or be in a bind, already stuck or going uphill and try to shift into 4x4 either. Never owned a Cat before so I may be wrong here. Yamaha and Kawasaki are shift on the fly, I know that for sure. Polaris too. I've had Hondas and a Suzuki Ozark but those were all 2wd quads. But all auto quads do require you to be completely stopped to shift from high to low or vice versa. Same with shifting to reverse as well.
