2002 500 auto 4x4, Had no spark, found trigger coil bad. Replaced trigger coil, bike started and ran good, shut off and then was back to no spark. Have tried another CDI with no difference. Rechecked everything and the only thing out of spec is the source coil (6.6ohms instead of 0.05-1.0). Will the source coil affect spark? Thought it was with the charge system. Never had any problems with source coils before.

 

The source voltage is sent to the cdi 1st, then the trigger signals to the cdi to fire its capacitors' charge. I know this is an old post but I'm cutting my teeth on this same(nearly) issue & figured it may help someone one day
