weekend ride in retrospect
#1
this past weekend dakotart, bushwhacker (polaris), and myself had one hell of a good time on dakotart's 800 acres in edna, texas; however, i cannot say the same for the cottonmouth watersnakes we killed. i killed mine with a .44 magnum--i know....overkill. we also went muddin and i didn't get stuck once mainly because i didn't follow dakotart and bushwhacker through a certain hole (no bragging rights there). i sure do love the 9.2" of ground clearance which dakotart and i used to our advantage when plowing through some deep ruts.

You guys are more than welcome to come back anytime. Bushwacker(aka Duey) has a nice machine but not even "true" 4 wheel drive can help ya when you go through some of the stuff we saw. I came home and told my dad about the snakes and he pulled out a sawed off 410 shotgun I am taking with us from now on. The other nice thing is that after 60+ miles of hard riding nothing broke except for bushweakar's foot boards, Texascat busted a rivet after a jump, and I spit out some rear diff oil from a seal. You guys are way cool in my book. Maybe next time we'll be able to kill more than 16 beers in two days. I was embarrassed to say the least. Yes, we did go overboard on the gun selection. A 44 magnum and 35 Remington are overdoing it for snakes. Coyotes and hogs would be a different story. I am going to the store tomorrow to buy some black powder. FUN!! I'm posting the pictures tomorrow. I need to go rub lotion on my sunburn!
Laters guys. Bushwaker, it's ok. Everybody gets stuck once in awhile. the best tool you can take on a trail ride is a 500 Cat with a winch. I still say we should have left him there to go get the camera and make him beg. Next time!
