I have been looking all day and can not find the wiring diagram for my 98 300 I can find one for 2000 and up but it is not the same if any one could point me in the right direction for a FREE one that would be great

Better than nothing , go to CountryCat.com and search "electrical components" in the parts manual. You should be able to download a parts manual from <mymowerparts.com> as well. It kind is a diagram, and shows part numbers.

 

I have seen the wiring diagram on the parts website and the does not help me and the link you posted does not have a year so that is a dead end to
