front spring spacers
#1
well, tonight i was feeling a bit self destructive and put on some front spring spacers ala cowboy.
i took off the top shock bolt, turned it down and used 4 9" visegrips(2 at a time) to compress the spring. zip tied them after they locked(an added safty measure, lol). pried the rubber bushing down with a screwdriver, took off the collar lock widget then slid the spring off very gently. i took off the plastic spring spacer and washer, added a 3/8" piece of 1 1/2" sch. 80 pvc right over the bottom part then put the whole thing back together.
took about 20 minutes per side including finding the tools. i'll ride it tomorrow and see how i like it. i think its going to be a bit harder ride.

With no weight up front, yeah, it will be much more rough than what you're already used to. I think you'll find though that it will nearly eliminate any of the "body roll" that you might find while cornering hard at higher speeds. I carry over 100 lbs. up front at all times, so I don't notice it as much as a stock machine with no weight would. If it's too much, you could drop it down to 1/4", maybe put the 3/8" or even a 1/2" in the rear. I don't suppose you took any before and after measurements did you? Just curious to see what you got out of them. I gained 1 1/2" of ground clearance myself, but have heard numbers range from 1-2" overall.
Anyway, best of luck, if you don't like it at least it was free, or at least cheap and easy to fix!

before the installation, under the frame in front with no weight was 10". after it was 10 7/8.
when i did the rear it was 9" under the frame just in behind the plow bracket. after it was 9 3/4.
both were done with 3/8" pvc spacers. i think i'll drop the front down to 1/4" and see if it's a little more compliant. i didn't load it up but my wife doesn't ride with anything on the bike.
she gets mad when i forget to take the husky off because she can't undo the bungees. lol. i'm sure the 1/4 will be fine...with somw weight on board. kinda equalizes it out.
she can't steer it with 6 concrete chimney blocks on it..........
