Has Anyone Seen the New 2002 Cats? (In Person)
#1
I what to know if anyone has seen the new 2002 Cats in person. I would like to know what the new IRS is like, such as if it will sink down when you sit on it. I am a 215 pounds so I hate when the IRS on Sportsmans sink down. Also does the IRS have ajustable preloads? Has anyone test drove it. Whats the body roll like? I am almost sure that I well get a AC 500i manual in like two or three months. And just want some more info.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Don't hold your breath, the "i" models won't be available till fall, the 375's will be available in Aug.
The new cats are very impressive, 375 - 500 have a totally new Frame, Seat, Foot Brake, Hand Shifter, Rear Shock Mount, Head Lights (4 bulbs & sealed ), Grills, Rack (front), Tires, Mud Flaps, Shift Linkage ( shaft insted of cable ), Front diff. ( it still works the same just a new AC design ), Gear Ratio (500 auto will be 3:1 for better top end about 5mph ), Re-calibrated Shocks (adjustable on "i" mobels), Brake Disks & Pads (for better cleaning & longer pad life), Brake Lines ( more hard line & firmer flex line for more positve/solid braking), Muffler (higher performance), Higher air intake & out-take on cvt trans, Carb Vent Hose ( routed higher to keep water out), and Water Proof Connectors on all Wiring Harneses.
ACT suspensions now have 8.5" F & 7.2" R Travel and 10.75" of ground clearance.
AC made a ton of little improvements that add up to a more comfortable, better handling, faster stopping & even more reliable wheeler,it will not be as fast as the 500HO, kaw650, yam660, but they ride & drive great!

Thanks CaTTrax! Ok heres is what I am going to do with it. I am going to put 28x12.5 Outlaws on it maybe 10.5 up front or 12.5(not sure), lift kit(from Highlifter when they come out with one) or maybe wheel spacers would work to from what BONER says(insted of a lift), winch, bigger bumper(hopefully warn if they make one), and Hi Performance Kit from Highlifter. I am a HUGE ski-doo fan and a cat hater in heart(thats a whole differante story). But how can you deny a STOCK quad that can spin 28x12.5 outlaws all the way around and now with 12" of ground clearance wwwooohhhooo!!! BUT the price I know that you can get one with the ACT suspensions for $5200. Not a Bad Deal. Plus I hear that they are pretty reliable. A fully sealded motor will help with that(depends what they mean buy fully sealded). I wonder how much one with the IRS will be? I know the MSRP on the 2002. Does Anyone know if the 500i will be in Red too? I think that they would offer Red like on the 01 and past models.

Yes, the 500i will also include red as a choice besides green. I am a Big Ski-Doo fan also, but I believe my first quad will be an Arctic Cat 300, 400, or 500. My older brothers have had quite a few Ski-Doo sleds. Namely 2 95 Formula Z's, 96 Formula III, 92 Mach 1, 95 470 MX, older Ski-Doo 6500 Plus. I myself have a 96 Formula SLS. Sorry I got off the subject, but we have had great success with DOO sleds! I got a 1998 MXZX 440 L/C. I love it for the trails. My mom has a 1998 Polaris Indy 440 L/C she a trader. My dad so far doesnt have a new sled to ride but will be getting one thing summer, fall or winter. We a have 4 1971s and 72s ski-doo TNTs. (1) 440(it sucks), (1)71 640cc, (1)72 640cc, and (1)72 775cc. There fun. My borther took out the 1972 640cc last winter and beat two Arctic Cat ZL 500's on trials. It was funny.
But as far as the AC's atv line up I like it. And the Price is the best part.

I forgot to mention this, but you might want to also look at the Traxter. It's another bike that has been reported to turn 28x12.5s completly stock, and it's made by Bombardier like Sea-Doo. It doesn't have near the clearance of most other bikes, much less the cat, tho. The rear end is huge and realy hurts it's ground clearance numbers.

RIPs, I forgot to mention that my brother Bob also had 2 Ski-Doo RV 340's I think. He used to race them both also. He did quite well with them. But when he had that 92 Mach 1, he had a guy come up beside him with a '92 700 AC Wildcat itching to race, so my brother took him on and blew him away with that 617CC with RAVE Valves! Ticked the guy off so bad that he took it home and put a 4 Sale Sign on it! Really! Like you say though, the AC quads are nice, and I would like one for my First quad.
