broken axel

I broke both of my ball joints and messed up my axel on my 98 ac454. Can anyone tell me how to get the axel out of the housing. It looks like i will have to open up the housing. Any help will be appreciated

It's tricky, but you need to push the axle in to the diff, about a 1/8 of an inch is all it will go, then pull it out fast and it should pop out. There is a spring clip that holds it in ... Bill

thank you, I knew the yamaha did like that, but I was afraid to try it till iI knew for sure.
